Howdy fellow travelers in cyberspace,
belatedly I hope you've all had a pleasant Christmas time. And
while am at it ... I hope you'll all have a happy new year's and
a good year to come.
We're already working on our new album. Our main goal right now
is to finish a couple songs that we'll pair with one or two of
the songs that I recorded in February for the Texas project (scroll
down to February for further info on this project). As you may
have guessed, that album fell through. The record companies liked
the idea but weren't really willing to go out on a limb and cover
some of the production costs. Anyway, the two new songs plus one
or two of the Texas tunes will make our new demo that we'll send
out in hopes of getting good gigs. This demo will hopefully represent
the newer and fresher sound of the Gunslingers. We might make
it available for y'all, as well. We haven't figured that out yet.
We've also got a couple of gigs lined up in February and March.
Check the live dates section of this site, come out and see us
play, we're looking forward to it. We're trying to keep busy live
and keep working on the new record this coming spring. I hope
to have this thing in the can in late spring/early summer.
And for everyone who's interested, here are my ten personal favorite
records of 2002:
James McMurtry - St. Mary Of The Woods
Peter Wolf - Sleepless
Todd Snider - New Connection
Willy De Ville Acoustic Trio - Live In Berlin
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band - The Rising
Guy Clark - The Dark
Steve Earle - Jerusalem
Greyhound Soul - Down
Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around
Radney Foster - Another Way To Go
Guy Clark's song "Soldier's Joy, 1864" particularly
blew my mind this year.
See ya, take care,
Markus
