New Millennium Blues
(words & music by Markus Rill)

I've had the opening guitar lick and the basic song structure for years. I must've had at least three or four different versions of this song but I was never satisfied with the lyric. We'd made a pre-production demo and sent it out to a few friends and people really responded to the earlier version of this. So I had to sit down and try to write a better lyric and this whole millennium craze just seemed to make for good irony with this piece of old-fashioned country music.
It's the dawning of a new day here
But we don't know what'll be goin' down here tonight
You said that I'd be missing you, well, I reckon I do
But if I am crying, I'm not crying over you

I-I know I shouldn't have let you go
Cuz that you're gone I'm crying over something new
I-I know that I never ever felt so low
I got the post-modern, angst-ridden, brand-new millennium blues

Well, the boy I was did not grow up to be the man that I wanna be
And the love I had never led to the happy-ending I'd like to have seen
I guess a guy my age should know what do with his life but the fact is that I don't
But come runnin' on back to you, I won't

I-I know I shouldn't have let you go
Cuz I'm still crying, I'm just crying over something new
I-I know that I never ever felt so low
I got the post-modern, angst-ridden, brand-new millennium blues

I-I know I shouldn't have let you go
Cuz that you're gone I'm crying over something new
I-I know that I never ever felt so low
I got the post-modern, angst-ridden, brand-new millennium blues

I know that I could deal with some good old-fashioned baby-left-me-kinda-news
But I got the post-modern, angst-ridden, brand new millennium-
Uncertain-future, girl, I-don't-know-where-I'm-goin'
