Hey guys,
folks, I've been real busy lately, playing a lot of shows, working in the studio, and doing promotion for the new record The Price Of Sin. All this is great news ... but it means that it sometimes takes a day or two to type up, translate, and post all the reviews we've been getting for the CD and our recent shows.
But I'm very happy that we got a great review in my favorite online music mag PureMusic.com that you can read along with some other new articles right here . I've also posted some new pictures from my Austin trip in March in the gallery. And I'll keep adding more stuff - so do check in with us from time to time.
We played some great shows in May - the most recent ones in Neustadt (with kick-ass piano man Andi Obieglo) and Marktbreit (with the five-piece Gunslingers) both found us in fine form. And just this last week I was in the studio producing five songs for singer-songwriter Marybeth D'Amico. She's an American woman living in Bavaria who is getting serious about her music career. She has a bunch of very fine songs and we recorded five tracks with her at kraftstrom in my hometown of Wuerzburg. Andi Obieglo (piano, Rhodes, accordion), Felix Wiegand (bass) and Jan Hees (drums) all played wonderfully.
There's more gigs lined up for June.
I'm looking forward to "An Evening Of Words & Music" at the bookstore "13 1/2" in Wuerzburg on Tuesday, June 13. This promises to be a special evening. Not only will Andi and I be playing lots of new songs and some older ones, I'll also be reading from and talking about some novels, short stories, and poems that I've found particularly inspiring. This'll be a one-off event, so do come out.
On Friday, June 16, I'll be playing a late (11 p.m.) solo show at the Youth Hostel in Frankfurt following a Soccer World Cup match on the big screen.
Two nights later, on Sunday, June 18, I'll be joining my friend Nadja Petrick at the Umsonst & Draussen festival in Wuerzburg. Nadja is a fine, Dylan-influenced singer-songwriter from Berlin who I first met twelve years ago in Austin, Tx.
And on Friday, June 23, I'll be returning to Regensburg to play a duo show with my newest friend Robert Hasleder. I met him recently when we both sat in with b.o.s.s. at their recent Regensburg show. Robert is a rarity in Germany since he plays dobros, lap steels, slide & Weissenborn guitars, banjos, and mandolins with a passion and great expertise. This'll be the first time we'll be playing together and it should be great fun. Of course, I'm also hoping for my good friend Hubert Treml (of b.o.s.s. fame) to sit in with us.
And while we're at it, you may as well take note of an outdoors show that Andi and I will be playing on July 2 at the akw biergarten in Wuerzburg.
And one more thing, folks. Let me assure that you can trust all these reviews we've been getting for "The Price Of Sin". It's a fine record and you should get your copy today!
Hope to see you soon, take care,
Markus
