Hi folks,
This just in (August 18): My song “The Price You Pay For Sin” is one of 15 finalists in a competition by American Songwriter magazine.
You have the opportunity to pick the winner and vote for your favourite song (up to ten times a day) until next Friday, August 25.
Please check out the competition at www.americansongwriter.com by visiting the "click here to vote" banner. There’s some fine songs to choose from. And if you’re so inclined, I’d appreciate it very much if you voted for me.
And here's the news from August 7:
Wwow, we've had a very busy summer so far and now we're slowing things down in August. Hope that's alright with y'all.
The good news first: Received yet another acknowledgment for my songwriting. The Price You Pay For Sin received an honorable mention from the Singer/Songwriter Awards, a fine organization.
Oh, and since you'll only get one chance to see us live this month, I figured I'd treat you to a new song: Please check out my acoustic version of Bob Dylan's wonderful tune "Not Dark Yet" that I recorded with my good friends Andi Obieglo and Jan Hees and posted in the sounds section of the website. That song is not currently available anywhere else. Enjoy!
We enjoyed our July gigs tremendously. The Gunslingers rocked the Wurzburg Weinfest and Andi and I played a very nice show for a unique crowd at Wurzburg's institute for the blind.
The EP I produced for singer-songwriter Marybeth D'Amico is all mixed. We're going into mastering right now. You can already check out one of the songs we did at her myspace site.
Unless something comes in on short notice, we'll only be playing one gig this month. The Gunslingers will be performing their favorite Johnny Cash songs and some early rock'n'roll and country stuff on Friday, Aug.11, outdoors at the K4 in Nuremberg. After our show there will be an open-air showing of the movie "Walk The Line".
Joining us that night will be bass player extraordinaire Bernie Batke from Smokestack Lightnin' and Anja Purps who will be playing the part of June Carter. So come on out, it'll be a fun night.
And for all you folks up in the north of Germany ... keep checking in with the website. If all goes well, I'll be up near Oldenburg on the very first weekend of September. Those shows are yet to be confirmed but I think it'll work out.
And there's some new reviews posted at right here and there'll soon be some new pictures in the gallery as well.
