Hiya folks,
alrighty, I'm back on track after some computer problems. Sorry bout the delayed website updates and newsletters.
Plenty of new stuff to tell you.
I'm looking forward to playing a bunch of gigs in the next few months, starting on Nov 3 in Regensburg at Caffe Letterario. This may be a small venue but I'll be playing with my two favorite accompanists, Robert Hasleder on dobro, mandolin, and banjo, and Andi Obieglo on piano, accordion, and guitar. I'm real stoked about playing in my favorite acoustic trio line-up for the first time.
Two days later I'll be playing the Aufsturz in Berlin accompanied by my good buddy Martin Abend on pedal steel. Also performing will be Berlin songstress Nadja Petrick & The Wildflowers.
There's a bunch more gigs lined up till the rest of the year and I'll have a busy beginning of the new year as well. If all goes well, I'll be playing my first ever UK gigs in January in tandem with L.A. songwriter Anny Celsi. We have three gigs confirmed and hope to get one or two more. This should be fun.
Some other good stuff has come my way. The Narrative Music organization from Canada has picked me as one of eight international songwriters to be a featured artist on their site www.narrativemusic.ca for the next three months. They enjoy and support storytelling songwriting so my stuff is right up their alley.
And there's a new contest I'm participating in that I suppose most of you will enjoy being a part of. To coincide with the German DVD release of "Walk The Line" - a movie about the life of Johnny Cash - Sony Entertainment are looking for cool cover versions of Johnny Cash songs. I submitted two songs: "I Still Miss Someone" under my name and "Ghost Riders In The Sky" for "Los Solitary Men". Y'all can check out the competition at www.walktheline-contest.de and vote for your favorite song starting Nov. 1. And you may win a trip to Tennessee!!
Looking forward to hearing from you and seeing you at one of the upcoming shows,
y'all take care of yourselves,
Markus
